Basic Analysis of the Ground Contact Angle Characteristics of the Walking Stick in the Stepping-up Movement using a stick

We elucidated the basic characteristics of the ground contact angle when the walking stick first contacts a step during the stepping-up movement with a walking stick. Using a motion analysis system, the angle between the step and the stick tip just before the step contact, and the angle between the stick and the step at ground contact were analyzed from the stick tip trajectory. In addition, differences due to the stepping motion while using the walking stick with and without left knee motion restriction were examined. No significant differences were found in the angle between the step and the stick tip approaching before step contact and the angle between the stick and the step at ground contact due to restriction of knee motion. The stick tip trajectories obtained in the experiment were classified into three types. The average angles between the stick and the step were approximately 77.8 degrees, regardless of the presence or absence of motion restriction.
