The purpose of this study was to clarify the features of figures we recognize easily in tactile pictograms. The subjects were ten adult males who had no problems with fingers. When conducting experiments, subjects wore an eye mask to reproduce visually impaired persons who are not congenital. 17 kinds of tactile pictograms were created as stimuli by using a 3D printer. Experiments were conducted in two stages of learning and identification. In learning experiments, comprehensibility and learning time were used as evaluation indexes. In identification experiments, comprehensibility and regeneration time, confidence factor, palpation rate were used as evaluation indexes. From the result of the palpation experiment, a positive correlation was found between the time taken for learning and the number of components of pictograms, a negative correlation was found between the time taken for learning and comprehensibility. From the analysis result of the trajectory of the fingertip, it turned out there are some different ways of touching between learning and identification. The conditions for easier to distinguish of tactile pictogram were as follows; 1) fewer components, 2) composed straight lines such as squares, and 3) composed large parts. In addition, the discriminability of components meaning humans was affected by posture and size.
