Gait analysis of elderly people and young people by using elevation angle

Yusuke NOZAWA, Norihiko SAGA and Kazuhiko KAWABATA

It is an important issue to prevent and cure gait of elderly people. A gait pattern is suggested to be related with the decrease in walking ability. Using the motion capture, joint angles of lower limbs were measured. We measured gaits of five elderly people and compared with five young people. We take data of one cycle of walking from the motion capture system and analyze the difference in walking between elderly people and young people from elevation angle and clarify the difference in walking. As a result, elevation angle shows the size, the axis of the elevation angle of each joint was different.
